Benefits of Massage

Massage therapy has been around for centuries, and it is recently being more accepted in America and worldwide because of its many found benefits.

The most well-known benefit of massage is that it feels good. However, massage has many therapeutic benefits, affecting the body as a whole (body, mind, and soul).

I know the below list is long, but some of the benefits might be new and surprising.

Massage…

- improves blood circulation
- increases lymphatic circulation
- reduces hypertension
- reduces edema and swelling
- improves muscular strength and mobility
- relieves muscular tension
- reduces headaches
- removes toxins from muscles
- increases joint mobility and flexibility
- improves nerve activity and sensation (helps to reduce pain)
- enhances sensation to the skin
- improves breathing depth and relaxation
- decreases stress
- prevents and relieves indigestion
- relieves body stiffness
- relieves mental and physical fatigue
- strengthens the immune system

- stimulates the body’s natural pain killers, endorphins
- loosens scar tissue (can help to prevent scarring)

- promotes healthier, softer skin by removing old dead skin
- promotes deep relaxation
- improves overall well-being

Massage benefits the body in so many wonderful ways that I couldn’t list them all. Make massage therapy a part of your healthy lifestyle and treat your body well.
